Morelia. Part III: Fullfilling a Dream in our Farewell

Dawn breaks with that sadness sensation always present in goodbyes. Today is our last day in Morelia and, from the terrace where we enjoy a coffee that helps us to fully awake and breath the air of a city saying goodbye, Madero Avenue show us the path to what is going to be the last step in this journey. There’s a silence that only ends when Erick Legaria arrives to takes us to our destination and, after saying hello, he gives us a book that narrates the oral tradition recovering process he’s been working on from some time now in Michoacan.

It is said that for knowing Morelia, you have to walk it and, listening to those who live here, after a delicious breakfast at the hotel’s terrace with a view of Madero Avenue that points to everything in our way, I took the streets. It looks like, from the first moment, a message is waiting for me to remember something. I wonder what the message is between the buildings in this day that starts now.

The Legacies Grow Stronger and Travel Over the World

Today a special date is marked in Flavors of Mexican Cuisine's history. The creator of this project is leaving the nest and opening his wings on the wind to take with him the best of the history, roots, legacies and experiences of the Mexican Family and share everything with Brazil.

Back in the summer of 2008, Emmanuel Prieto started the project from a long time dream his mother had, and thanks to the support and guidance of great masters in tourism industry and Mexican gastronomy, who filled him with inspiration and pride, this became a reality that, everyday, is getting bigger and stronger.

Michoacán

One of the most diverse states in the country, it is a place where indigenous traditions are conserved at the same time that it boasts a rich Spanish legacy. Its attractions range from the Colonial city of Morelia, a World Heritage site, to virgin beaches such as Maruata, Nexpa or Faro de Bucerías; and it also includes small traditional towns around the lake in Pátzcuaro and the monarch butterfly sanctuary. In Michoacán, people who changed the course of the country’s history were born, like leaders from the Independence José María Morelos and Josefa Ortíz de Domínguez, and former president Lázaro Cárdenas. 

Every Morning Starts With Coffee

I went to breakfast with a friend a couple of days ago and something happened that, actually, happens all the time. Almost instantly, we ordered an espresso for me, and an American coffee with double charge for him. However, that day it came to our mind that every person we know do the same thing over and over when they arrive at a restaurant or waking up at home, even. Coffee has become an important part of our day-by-day actions and it’s a major element of stories, chats, romance and break ups. This scent, created in Arabia in the 15th century and taken through all over the world by Europeans by the 17th century has been with us in cheerful moments, such as that first date and, also, has been a great refuge for cold and lonely days.
